Sunday’s can be rough sometimes. Sunday School technically starts at 9:45am and we make a conscience effort to be there by 10am when it usually really starts. Claire normally naps from 10am-12pm … we only have about a 10 minute drive to church so she no longer (in her old age) falls asleep in the car when going from home to church. She falls asleep best in her own bed and not with anyone holding her or rocking her (Colton at this age would take his pacy and fall asleep right on me) so… she is generally awake the entire time were at church. Our services usually last until 12:30pm so as you can imagine she is pretty tired. Usually I make her a cup of milk between Sunday School and Church and she will drink it around 11:30 and then she does fall asleep in the car on the way home because she is so exhausted! We carry her in and on a good day she will sleep for a couple of hours. Colton generally hangs in there pretty well … except for last Sunday – here is our attempt to get an Easter Sunday family photo:
Yeah, he was give out (he usually eats lunch around 11:15 and is in bed for a nap around 12 noon) and he was tired of everyone messing with him so by the end of church he was not compliant at ALL with getting a picture taken.
My sister in law was behind the camera and we insisted she go ahead and take them so one day we can show Colton just how he was acting ;).
At least we were able to get a good photo of these two… well sort of! Ahhh gotta love trying to get everyone to look at the camera and smile at once!
I had originally wanted to do an Easter Egg Hunt at our home, but when I started making the invite list I realized it was going to be huge… we ended up doing one at our church and it worked out perfectly.
Colton enjoyed looking for eggs, but one of the first things he said was “where are the chicks?” … I thought it was so cute!
It took a few minutes, but he finally got into the fun of the hunt…
Checking out how many eggs he had found…
Then he became more interested in pushing the stroller than collecting eggs.
So Daddy carried the basket and Colton “helped” push the Claire Bear…
It was hard for me to pick and choose which pictures to use in this post… so I used almost all of them :)
Claire does not mind the grass at all… when Colton was this age he hated being in the grass …
She really did not mind sitting in her basket either.
The funny thing about these 2 pictures is that neither one of my kiddos have a clue what candy is… and nope they did not get to eat one piece … I know I know … I’m a terrible mom, but trust me – they did not know that they missed out on anything.
I love the idea of Easter baskets…. I’m not really sure why, but nonetheless I do. Of course we always want our children to understand that Easter is about the death and resurrection of Christ, but we still want to have a little fun too just like at Christmas we do not want them to be wrapped up in all the gifts, but we still buy a few.
I never remember getting an Easter basket as a child, but I do remember doing various Easter Egg Hunts. Chris told me the same thing – he said he did not remember Easter baskets or even Easter Egg Hunts, but he does remember his stepmother always doing fun scavenger hunts! Mamma Dale is pretty creative so I can totally see her doing scavenger hunts and making them super fun for her bunch!
So Easter morning before breakfast we went down to check the Easter baskets! And no, we did not say, “look what the Easter bunny brought you” … did you read my Santa post!?
The two loved their gifts, but I think Colton was more interested in Claire’s books than the other goodies that were in his basket!
See… he’s a bit of a book worm and we love it!
Sam’s Club has the best selection of books! They sometimes get in sets of 3 Dr. Seuss board books – the small ones like you see Colton reading here. He LOVES them! They are honestly our favorites because they’re easy to take with us to church or on errands and Colton quickly memorizes them so he entertains himself by “reading” them.
Claire like her books too! I found some cute plastic Sesame Street books in the dollar bin at Target!
We play with sidewalk chalk almost daily so I was tickled when I found egg shaped sidewalk chalk! Colton has already been playing with them outside – I also found those in the dollar bins at Target!
When I first saw the colored bubbles I was so excited and though how neat they would be… well then I heard through the grapevine that they are icky and messy and stain bad so we have not broke those out yet and not sure it we will!
All in all it was a great morning and we actually made it out of the house on time!!

I never thought my life would turn out this good. I am amazed each day by the blessings of God. I am married to a fabulous (and good looking... if I do say so myself) man of God who is the best father to our three little ones.
I have always been that typical Type A personality, but being a mother has certainly mellowed me down a wee bit! I have many passions in life. I am passionate about my children and about being the best, most Godly mom possible. I am overly passionate about My Christopher and most of all I am passionate about Jesus. I want to live my life with BOLDNESS - sharing with others my beliefs in Christ and my beliefs about the world.
I like to run, workout and watch college athletics. I love the VOLS and most things "southern" (soup beans, cornbread, fried okra, vinegar coleslaw, sweet tea & lemonade).
I am not perfect, but I am pleased to say that the Lord is working and refining me everyday!
I met my husband in youth group at church. We started seeing one another (whatever that means) the summer before my senior year of high school. I was reluctant and he was persistent. 2 1/2 years later he proposed on the alter of our church on New Years Day. 7 months later we were married and now here we are almost 8 years later with 2 babies! Chris is quiet and usually finds humor in every situation. He's my voice of reason and my best friend. He's a wonderful father and he loves the Lord. He has a missionary heart and I cannot wait to see what all the Lord is going to do with his life!
I never knew love like this existed until Colton came into this world. 39 weeks and 1 day followed by about 30 hours of labor Colton made his arrival at 12:41am Wednesday June 4th, 2008. Since then our lives have never been the same! The Lord has used this small vessel to refine me in areas I didn't know existed. I am so humbled by the fact that the Lord chose me to be his mother. I always pictured myself working in corporate America, but I know now the Lord has called me to be a stay at home mom and it is there that I find such joy!
Oh Anna Claire! I thought for sure that she was going to be another boy, but I was so wrong! We were so delighted to welcome her into this world at 9:32pm on Wednesday May 19th, 2010 after only a few hours of labor. We are excited to see Claire's personality develop and watch her and Colton grow together.
Beckham Christopher you have taken my breath away. My little dark hair, dark eyed little man. You remind me so much of your daddy which may be why I have fallen in love so hard! You were a big surprise, but have been the biggest blessing to our family!
