Mischief

April 21, 2011

I really like clean – specifically I really like my children clean.  I prefer for their hands to always be wiped clean and their faces too.  I really do not even like for them to go around barefoot.  I prefer for their clothes to be pressed and neat although I will admit that is not always the case.
Playing in the mud or the dirt is not something I have really ever encouraged Colton to do.  I know, I know… let them be kids!… quit being so uptight!  I’m working on it!  Seriously, I am … and here is proof!

Yep, this is puddle jumping at its finest!  What started out as a nice relaxed (as relaxed as you can be with 4 kids under 3 years old) – turned into quite the messy adventure to say the least!

We had lots of rain prior to going to the park so there were a few relatively small puddles around the area and we (at first) made a conscious effort to steer clear of them.  Initially, these two just eased up to the water – knowing they were not to go “in” the water… and then I look and see Colton had stepped in the water and I knew immediately it had soaked right through his mesh shoes.  Ugg!  I could see from the look on his face that he really wanted to jump – so I said, “you know what just go for it” … and he did!  They both did!

I love how he has his hands in this 2nd picture … he was preparing for the big leap!

They literally jumped back and forth – back and forth for a good 15 minutes.  A few minutes in a hear another mom gasp and say (loudly) “oh my who’s kids are those!” … Christine and I just started chuckling and said “ours!”.  The funny thing is I am totally that mom that would have been like “oh my stars I cannot believe they are letting their kids jump in the muddy water!”

Can you see the big grins in the pictures below!?

The water in my washing machine was this same color after washing Colton’s shoes…

And how did we get them clean you might ask… well … we let them play in the creek of course!
