Coat Rack Organizing

February 29, 2012

The playroom has been my big project lately.  I am slowing working on re-organizing and making the room more usable.  We just had drapes made which I love.  I love the large print!

Chris and I have had this mirror since we were first married … we used it in our very first apartment because we did not have a coat closet on the main level.  We are not closet endowed in our current home so the mirror had to make a re-appearance when we moved here.  I loathed this spot… it always looked junked up and disorganized.

Now lets move on to this mess!  I cannot believe I am actually showing this… this is probably the messiest thing in our home.  This is the armoire that matches our master bedroom furniture, but we do not have the space for it in our master so we put it in the entryway of our playroom.  The armoire sits where I eventually want to place an antique pew and coat rack.  The more I looked at this armoire the more I realized that I was not properly using the space… so….

I took down the mirror/coat rack … cleaned up the armoire, added a tension rod and …

voila!

Nice organized stored behind closed doors.  No more coats hanging around for everyone to see!  I also placed all of our winter accessories in a nice clear tote for easy accessibility and hung up the children’s jackets on child size coat hangers.  So for now… until I get the entryway I desire this will have to work!  What do you think?

Straw Bales … Play time

February 28, 2012

I’m just happy someone is getting some use out of these straw bales!

DSC_0044DSC_0045

Last year I thought that straw bale gardening sounded like such a great idea.  In theory it was and we had some huge tomato plants.  The thing is, I am just not a gardener… not sure what we are going to do this year.  How about you???  Do you have a garden?

My School Boy

February 27, 2012

Colton is enjoying school so much.  He is learning more and more each week.  He has more bible verses memorized than most adults.  His most current verse is Luke 11:28, “Blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep it”.  My favorite to hear him recite is John 3:16.

Our prayer is that Colton will always obey the word of God.  He has such a sweet little spirit and I know God is going to use his life for His glory!

Is he not just the cutest little school boy ever!?

The Lords Day–Free Printable

Sunday’s are my favorite day of the week.  What really warms my heart is when Colton realizes what day it is and says, “were going to church today!”.  I love that my children have a church home, a place that they love, a place of worship and fellowship.

Today… today is the Lords day… and today I plan to REJOICE and be GLAD!

Motherhood

February 18, 2012

It is my belief that God created me first to be Chris’ wife and secondly He created me to be a mom.  Being a mother is indeed a calling … one that should not be taken lightly.  I am humbled that God has chosen me to be Colton and Claire’s mother and I strive daily to be the mom that He has called me to be – working diligently to raise morally sound, God loving children.  Children who will walk in the light of His truth all the days of their lives.  It is not an easy task by any means, but the payoff – the hugs, the kisses, the “I love you mom” … those make it so worth it.

Mild Winter

February 15, 2012

I know I have mentioned it time and time again, but we really have had a mild winter!  These pictures are from January – the kitchen door open and the children were playing with only light jackets.

I put these overalls on over Claire’s cotton pants… she was trying to figure it out…

Snow Day

Saturday I was woken up by Colton, who came to my bedside saying, “Mommy!  Mommy!  Its SNOWING!  Its SNOWING!”.  The little guys has been asking me for weeks if it is going to snow.  We have had such a mild winter which I have really enjoyed, but I have wished that we would have one good snow just for him to enjoy!  This is technically our second snow of the year.

It was super cold Saturday and the wind was brutal, but I knew we had to get outside for a few minutes before our minuscule snow melted all away.  The four of us bundled up and headed out.  You will notice that Claire was really not prepared – or at least momma was not prepared for Claire to be playing in the snow!  She does not have any snow pants or boots and prior to Saturday it had not crossed my mind to buy her any!  I triple layered her and hoped she would not get too cold.  She did not seem to mind!

DSC_0093

They had such a great time.  One of Colton’s favorite things to do in the snow is to make snow angels… however, he calls them “Colton’s” ha ha ha.  Ahhh, the difference a year makes – he is getting so big!

DSC_0129DSC_0128DSC_0132DSC_0131

Claire watched Colton play and Daddy shovel snow off the patio in between picking herself up time and time again… New Balance are not ideal shoes for playing in the snow… boots – yep, that is on my shopping list!

Look at these happy faces!  They had so much fun!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is such a sweet holiday… literally!  Between all the chocolates, flowers, and proclamation's of love February 14th is a happy day.  I am reminded today though of the greatest love of all, the love of our Heavenly Father.  He loved you and me so much that He gave his ONLY son to die for our sins!  I thought today would be a great day to share this video with you (again).

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Quiet Time

February 13, 2012

Claire and Colton are totally opposites in some aspects.  The biggest difference is that Colton prefers for you to play with him or at least be in the same room where he is playing.  Claire on the other hand, she can entertain herself all day.  I normally do not worry about her during the day unless I hear it get really quiet…. that usually means she is up to something.

Recently, I realized I had not heard her playing or chatting in a while so I walked into the playroom to find her like this:

She was snuggled up in her chair with her blanket and Minnie!

So sweet!
