Load of Emotion

March 12th I found out I was pregnant for the third time, I was immediately in a state of shock.  I took the pregnancy test on a whelm.  My cycle was messed up the month before (not typical for me) so I assumed it was just messed up again.  It was toward the end of my half marathon training so I was pulling in 15-20 miles a week – I have heard that a lot of exercise can cause your cycle to change.  One afternoon, three days past when I should have started, I remembered I had a pregnancy test in my nightstand and decided to take it.  I was definitely not expecting it to be positive.

The shock quickly turned into worry and thus led to loads of emotion.  I know this may sound crazy to some of you, but this was not in “our plan” so it really threw me for a loop.  Chris and I thought we were finished with two children.  We were finally in a comfortable state of mind and were moving forward making plans for my husband to visit an urologist to make the “fix” permanent.

The first week after the positive pregnancy test I think I cried every day.  I cried because I did not want to get pregnant and then I cried because I felt guilty for crying.  Several of our friends want children and are unable to conceive or cannot conceive naturally.  So I felt guilty… guilty for my feelings.  It was horrible!  I walked in a horrible state of mind for a while – until I talked with a wonderful, Godly mentor who led me to the cross and helped me see this from God’s perspective.  This type of “guilt” was not from the Lord and I was not going to allow the devil to have any sort of victory over my life.

Still we have walked through the first trimester of this pregnancy very differently than with our other two.  The only thing that has been the same is the nausea that has accompanied me almost everyday all day for the first 14 weeks!  I have found myself so busy with a two and four year old that at times I totally forget I’m pregnant.

Then this weekend something happened… something changed inside of me.  It is all thanks to this little angel (wiping away the tears!):

This is baby Daniel!  He is is the newest addition to our family.  He is the third child of my husband’s brother Paul.  These pictures do him no justice – he is the cutest little six week old ever.  His dark skin and dark hair are to be envied by all.  He is seriously one of the sweetest newborns ever.  His momma is very selfless with her babies (total opposite of me and my newborns… if you know me you totally get this!) so I had the opportunity to spend lots of cuddle time with this little guy.

Toward the end of our long weekend I was sitting on the couch with baby Daniel and his momma, Chris was leaning over the couch admiring this sweet little newborn and emotion just over took me… for the first time I was so excited to be pregnant.  So excited that in just about six months I am going to hold my little newborn in my arms and smell his sweet skin (I’m convinced it’s a boy) and cuddle him tightly knowing that he is mine and that he will be a sweet addition to our family.

It has taken me three days to write this post.  The tears have flowed without good explanation.  I ask myself if I really wanted to tell people that I was not excited when I found out I was pregnant – what were people going to think of me!?  So I leave you with this.  I am so grateful that the Lord has given me the opportunity to be a mother for the third time and I take the task of mothering His children very seriously.  God bless you all!

If you have children you know how impossible it is to get them all to look at the camera and smile at the same time!

This afternoon we managed to get down to the beach with plenty of good light, but Colton and Claire were more interested in playing than taking photos… here they were playing peek-a-boo!

Now Claire’s turn.

I love these two!  I cannot wait to see them play “peek-a-boo” with their new little brother or sister!

Beach Trip–Take VI

This day was probably the most fun we had all week!  There was an overcast so it was not very hot.  Claire finally “warmed up to” the sand and was down playing the entire time.

Chris and I have been getting the biggest kick out of this face… she does this all the time!

Enjoying his Clif bar while Claire played with the buckets.

Chris dug a big hole and let Colton get down in it…

… Colton loved it!

Before we knew it several hours had passed and everyone was hungry!

Colton was much happier with his sunglasses and hat!

Claire enjoyed playing in the seashells we had gather the day before.

Happy babies make for a happy day!

Beach Trip Take IV–Attempting PHotos

May 26, 2012

Any chance I get to take some family photos I am all about it.  Having the crystal clear gulf and white sandy beaches as a back drop is icing on the cake!

We missed the best of the evening light, but still managed to get a few decent photos.  It would help if I knew how to REALLY use my camera!

This is typical in our house… Colton is much more of a “lover” than Claire and she just wants to be “left alone!”

Oh that is unless it is Daddy who wants hugs and kisses… then she is all for it!

Some passerby's offered to take a picture of the four of us.

He knew a little more about what he was doing with the camera.  Thank goodness!

Now the hard part is deciding which of these to have printed and framed!

That’s my little lover… loving on his momma!  Muah!

It is almost impossible to get everyone looking at the camera at the same time.

You can see my belly in this next picture… I am at that looking fat instead of looking pregnant stage.  Chris says I already have a “sway back” and look prego to him!  Crazy how quickly I have popped out this time!

I love this smile… oh yeah, did you notice the bracelets?  She saw them as we were leaving the condo and had to wear them.  What is it with this chick and her jewelry?

This may be my favorite picture of the entire week!

Which was your favorite?

Beach Trip 2012–Part III

May 25, 2012

We finally made it down to the beach on the first nice day!  The kids (especially Colton) was still a little under the weather, but they were excited to get down to the sand and water to play!  Yes, Claire had to wear her “jewelry” … she’s such a girly girl!

It was hot and very bright outside!

Colton got a Frisbee the night before at dinner (Sharky’s… yummm) so he and Chris had fun throwing back and forth while Claire played on the lounger…

…can you see her behind Colton?

Colton has sensitive eyes (and ears) so he is not a fan of the overly bright sun… I forgot his sunglasses and hat, but had a visor he wore.

Sand buckets kept Colton and Claire entertained and kept Daddy busy.

“Hi Bruver!”

They played in the water and I went to get them some seashells…

I think I was as white as the sand!

After an hour or so on the beach we made our way up to the pool… Claire thoroughly enjoyed herself!

I am not a big fan of flotation devices, but Claire LOVED playing in the pool with this ring!  She was totally in her element.

Colton played on the steps, but did not want to get in the water.  I think his toe was bothering him.  Did I mention he tore off/up half of his big toenail the day before we left!?  Awful!!!

Our condo was pool level (the one with the safety ring hanging) so we could just hop over the fence and voila!  It was very convenient!

All that swimming made for a hungry little girl!  Off to get some lunch!

Birthday Morning

May 24, 2012

Birthday morning pictures have been a tradition since Colton’s very first birthday.  As soon as we hear them awake we run in and snap a few photos!  Hopefully, we can keep this up for a LONG LONG time!

Claire was a little grump the morning of her birthday… could have  had something to do with the fact she woke up super early!

She then came and snuggled with momma in the bed for a while!
