As snug as a bug in a rug…

I love these Aden & Anais Muslin Swaddling Blankets.  If you have a little one you need these asap!

So far Baby Beckham is sleeping like a dream.  We’re on a three hour schedule during the day and at night he gives me about five hours between feedings.  I cannot ask for much better – I did not get four consecutive hours of sleep while I was pregnant!  It is so important to maintain a schedule with your children – this is especially true with newborns.  If you get their daytime routine in place and get the feedings down pat to where they’re getting full feedings, your night time will fall into place and your little one will be sleeping through the night for you in no time!

Claire slept through the night (8 hours) when she was six weeks old, then 10 hours at 8 weeks, and 12 hours at 10 weeks.  I am hoping to get back to running in the next two-four weeks so hopefully by that time we will just be doing one feeding at night and then I can get up and run!  Right now, I’m going to go snuggle with my newborn!

Hard to Believe

November 29, 2012

It is so hard to believe that just over two weeks ago this was me!

Besides being super uncomfortable and not able to sleep (or run) – I enjoyed being pregnant.  As fat as I felt at times, I still felt the most like a woman and the most beautiful when I was pregnant.

This last pregnancy was definitely harder than the previous two.  My ob said that is typical of each additional pregnancy.  It is hard to believe that this could had very well been my last pregnancy.

My Little Indian

November 28, 2012

Colton got to dress up for his fall party at school.

Is he not the cutest little Indian ever!?  He was too busy staring at the television to look at my camera… ahhh the life of a toddler.

2 Weeks Old

November 27, 2012

It is hard to believe that we have had this little guy for two weeks already.

Here is our two week journey … in pictures.

Birth-Day 11-12'

Instantly when the ob laid him up on my chest all I could think was how much he looked like Colton!

11-13 – Beckham and I got some good one on one time together in the hospital.  It was nice to have the quiet time with him.

11-14 – This is such a sweet picture.  He was almost 2 days old here.  The doctors and nurses went on and on about his color.  I still cannot believe he has dark hair.

11-15 – This is one of my favorite pictures of the past two weeks.  Colton has been giddy in love with his little brother from day one.  This picture shows his true excitement.

11-15-12 (5)

11-16 – Claire has been so sweet too.  She just wants to hold him all the time!  This was the first time he took a pacifier too.

11-16-12 (17)11-16-12 (18)

11-17 – I was finally able to get a picture of him smiling!

11-18 – Night time feeding.  It is rare for him to be so wide-eyed.

11-18-12 (5)

11-19 – I found my fingers and they are super yummy!

11-19-12 (1)

11-20 – I love that wrinkly neck!

11-20-12 (3)

11-21 – This is little miss mother hen covering his head with his blanky.

11-21-12 (7)

11-22 – Happy Thanksgiving!

11-23 – Bedtime with Daddy.

11-23-12 (7)

11-24 – It is wild how much he is changing!

11-24-12 (2)

11-25 – I just want to squeeze his cheeks

12 Days of Christmas {Day 3}– Christmas Card Displays

November 26, 2012

Everyone in our house is sick to some degree or another so Day 3 of the 12 Days of Christmas is a little delayed.  Apologies!

12 days of Christmas

One of my favorite things about Christmas is getting Christmas cards and letters!  I just love seeing all the pictures and reading the updates!  Finding a creative way to display the cards is something I struggle with doing.  The past few years I have hung them from our door on a piece of ribbon, but it just never really works well.  So my mission this year, find a better way to display cards.

christmas card display 1

This first idea is super cute and could be something even your kiddos could help with.  The blogger decorated clothes pins and then used a big strand of ribbon to display her cards.  You could hand this from almost anywhere – a mantle, your cabinet or even your door.

christmas card display 2

Once again here is an idea using clothes pins.  This crafter used mini clothes pins though which are super cute.

I am totally in love with these shutter displays.  The first is from Pearls Handcuffs & Happy Hours.  The other shutter is from Helen’s Corner.  What I love about this idea is it is something you could leave up all year and use for year round pictures or even mail.

christmas card display 5

How adorable is this pinup wreath from Martha Stewart?!  She has all the best ideas!

christmas card display 6

I love this idea from  All you need is a little ribbon and clothes pins.  This is a great idea if you have a large archway/opening from one room to another.

christmas card display 7

I love this “Merry Mail” sign!

christmas card display 8

This is my favorite idea and come to you from Martha Stewart.  The great thing is you most likely have all these items laying around your house and some sticks in your yard.

12 Days of Christmas (Day 2)–Wreaths

November 24, 2012

12 days of Christmas

I have a slight love affair with wreaths.  Wreaths are no longer just your typical floral arrangement on the door, but now you can make them out of almost anything!

Christmas Wreath

1 – I love this yarn wreath, but I cannot seem to locate the original source of the picture.

2 – who said a wreath has to be a circle?  This is such a cute and whimsical idea for your front door.

3 – this picture wreath is something you could have sitting around all year.  This would be so adorable on a breakfast nook or mantel.  Jamie at the crafting chicks gives a great tutorial on this wreath.

4 – this wreath is perfect for crafters because it is made from scrap fabric.  If you sew or craft I’m sure you probably have scrap fabrics laying around.  This comes from the blog Piccadilly Peddler where she gives a great tutorial.

5 – this is another wreath made with yarn brought to you from Two Junk Chix.  A super cool blog!

6 – burlap seems to be the hottest new trend and I LOVE it!  You can do so much with it.  This wreath is simple, but sweet.  If you do not want to do your own you can purchase this one from Allison Strider on Etsy.

7 – this is a super cute wreath made out of a recycled sweater.  Stephanie Lynn at Under the Table and Dreaming gives a step by step tutorial on her website.

8 – from this is a great idea of how to display your wreaths and decorate your staircase.

9 – I love simple and so I love this wreath.  It is made out of felt circles.  Super inexpensive, but just a little time consuming.  I plan on doing this one, but in the shape of a Christmas Tree.  You can find the easy to follow tutorial on this wreath at

Be sure to leave a comment and link up your own wreath project!

12 Days of Christmas–Advent Calendars

November 23, 2012

12 days of Christmas

For years I have been wanting an advent calendar and for whatever reason we still do not have one.  I love the ones from Pottery Barn Kids, but they are more than what I want to spend.  However, all it takes is a few minutes of surfing the web and you can find some amazing DIY Advent Calendars.

This first one is from and is something super simple to do.  In each envelope is something fun to do each day leading up to Christmas day.  My problem would be I need ideas of what to put on each card, but sure enough this blogger gives you some great ideas!

advent 1

Here is another activity advent calendar that is super easy too!  I love the burlap covered canvas.  You can find instructions on this one from The Complete Guide to Imperfect Homemaking.

advent 2

I really loves these bags.  My only question is, where do you find scalloped circles this big!?  This blogger has the great idea of using left over Halloween candy in the bags as a treat!advent 3

These bags are so adorable and would look so cute strung across any mantel.  This blogger fills each bag with an ornament and each morning her little guy gets up and discovers a new ornament and puts it on the tree.  This sounds like lots of fun for toddlers!

advent 4

Love Love Love… these action cards!  I definitely would love to do something like this!

advent 5

The same blogger made these adorable boxes.  I love these… how would you display them??

advent 6

How does your family celebrate advent?

Hide & Seek

Colton and Claire LOVE to play Hide & Seek.  They play it all the time.  Daddy even gets in on the fun sometimes!

If you look closely you can spot his need in the bottom left.  He obliged with Colton’s request and squeezed himself into this tight little space and hid until he was found.

I am just happy we have found more than one use for these PBK chairs.

Smile Please

November 10, 2012

It is really rare that I get to be in front of the camera with my kiddos.  Every once in a while though I will get Chris to snap a few photos of the munchkins and their momma, usually as were walking out the door to church.  These were from two weeks ago.

I was crossing my fingers that I would get one good picture… here is what I received.

I knew that Claire was not cooperating… she was not in the mood to offer up a smile, but I had no idea that Colton was making “funny faces”.

From the looks of it Colton was getting a little tickled at himself.

This one is as good as it gets ;)

Happy Halloween

November 9, 2012

Colton and Claire have no clue really what Halloween is, but when I mentioned dressing up the first thing Colton said was “Jake!”.  He loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates on Disney.  I thought Claire would just wear Colton’s elephant costume from a few years ago, but she immediately spoke up and said she wanted to be Izzy!  So Jake and Izzy it was!

We looked at the Disney store for costumes, but I could not bring myself to spend $70 between the two of them for this one night.  So of course my next thought was Nana… and as always she came through with flying colors!  Seriously, she has mad skills with a sewing machine.  I think she could spend all her free time piecing and quilting quilts.

I printed her off a few photos and she made Colton’s vest and his head band.  The shirt was an old tshirt of his cut to look like Jakes.  Claire’s costume was even more simple.  The only ting she really needed was a head scarf and a bag for her pixie dust.  We had a pink shirt, purple leggings, and boots – Voila… Jake & Izzy!

They seriously LOVED their costumes!

Our plans for the night changed because our church cancelled trunk or treat.  We thought about hanging out with some friends and doing the door-to-door thing, but it was SOOOO cold.  So we did the next best thing and headed to the mall.

Claire stayed latched on to her Daddy the entire time we were there.

They had a good time walking around trick-or-treating and seeing some friends.  They even posed for a few cute pictures.

Arrgh matey!

Two of the cutest little pirate I have ever seen!

Now on to Thanksgiving and Christmas!
